The Buffalo Bills are looking to strengthen their safety depth by signing Dee Delaney to a one-year contract. Delaney, who is 29 years old, brings five seasons of NFL experience to the team, most recently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he made five starts in 49 appearances. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of The Citadel and has also spent time with Jacksonville and Washington.

The Bills are in transition at safety after the departure of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Poyer was released and signed with the Miami Dolphins, while Hyde remains unsigned as he contemplates retirement. Backups Taylor Rapp and Mike Edwards are expected to step into starting roles, with rookie Cole Bishop providing depth after being drafted in the second round.

To make room for Delaney on the roster, the Bills released wide receiver Quintez Cephus, who had recently been signed by the team. Cephus was looking for a fresh start after being suspended for the entire 2023 season due to betting on NFL games in 2022. The Bills have also added free agent Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their receiving corps, further solidifying their depth at that position.
