Wineries in Rhode Island are now able to sell their products directly to customers at their locations, thanks to a new law. This change allows wineries to sell up to three five-ounce glasses of wine and three 750-milliliter bottles per day, regardless of where the fruit used to make the wine was grown.

The bill that brought about this change was sponsored by Senate Majority Whip Valarie Lawson, who believes that it will be beneficial for both wineries and their local communities. In a press release, she stated that customers should have the opportunity to visit wineries, see how the wine is made, and share a glass with the winemakers. This change creates a more open and inviting atmosphere for customers to engage with local wineries.

While local breweries and distilleries were already allowed to sell limited amounts of their products onsite, this new law extends the same opportunity to wineries in Rhode Island. By allowing wineries to sell products directly to customers, it provides businesses with the opportunity to grow and thrive in the state.
