A new family has taken over a locally owned gourmet popcorn business in York County, Pennsylvania. Half Nuts Popcorn Co., which was founded by Gina Frey-Jones and her husband Tim 10 years ago out of a small ‘She Shed’ in Wrightsville, has been sold to South York County natives Lori Cappello and her husband Jason. The Cappellos are now the proud owners of the Half Nuts Popcorn Co.

Lori and her husband were frequently passing by the small Half Nuts Popcorn shop while riding their motorcycles along the Susquehanna River in York County. After having conversations with the original owners, Lori decided to leave her corporate career and jump into the popcorn business. She was drawn to the family-friendly environment at Half Nuts Popcorn and was impressed to see people walking out of the shop with smiles on their faces.

Once they acquired the business, the Cappellos opened a new Half Nuts Popcorn Co. shop on Saturday, June 1, at 498 South Front Street, just down the road from the original storefront. The shop currently offers about 30 different flavors of gourmet popcorn, including unique options like Blueberry Popcorn, Birthday Cake Popcorn, Cheddar Popcorn, and PB&J Popcorn. The Cappellos plan to expand their offerings to include slushies, sorbet, and ice cream in the future.

The hours of operation for the new Half Nuts Popcorn Co. location are Wednesdays – Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p
