The Nantahala Health Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new competitive grant opportunity on July 1, with a specific focus on investing in educational, healthcare, and workforce programs that benefit youth and young adults aged 5 to 24. The foundation recognizes that in order for children and young adults to thrive, they need a sense of belonging, community, healthy relationships, quality healthcare, and access to education as well as job opportunities as they enter adulthood.

Lori Bailey, Executive Director of the Nantahala Health Foundation, highlighted the organization’s commitment to improving health and well-being for all since 2019. In this year’s grant cycle, set to open on July 1st up to $300,000 in additional grant dollars will be invested in the region with award announcements expected in December. This shift in focus from the foundation is aimed at bringing about measurable positive change for children and young adults. Over the past five years, the foundation’s grantmaking efforts have invested nearly $3.5 million into regional programs and mobilized over $15 million for improved health outcomes.

Interested agency representatives are encouraged to attend an in-person presentation to learn more about the funding priorities and application details. Sessions are scheduled for early July in Franklin and Murphy and require registration for adequate space. The foundation is also seeking public support to amplify its efforts with a fundraising goal of $50,000 by the end of the year coming from individuals and business leaders who share their values and want to contribute to improving the lives of young citizens.
