The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, located in Chicago, is set to undergo a major name change and renovation thanks to a generous $125 million donation from local billionaire Ken Griffin. The museum announced the change through social media, revealing its new name which will be effective from next week.

The decision to rebrand the museum was made in 2019 as a way to acknowledge the historic donation received and secure its future. The funds will be used to create new exhibits and experiences for visitors, as well as establish the Pixel Studio, an innovative digital gallery and performance space that will be unique in North America.

As part of this rebranding effort, the museum also introduced a new logo and exhibits. The Griffin Studio will offer an immersive digital gallery experience, featuring an exhibit named Notes to Neurons, which explores the relationship between music and emotions. The new logo, with softer edges on the iconic cube, symbolizes a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for all visitors.

The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry aims to blend its rich history with modernization and innovation while putting the community at the heart of its mission. As stated on the museum’s website, the transition to the new name represents a dedication to progress and respect for the institution’s heritage. The museum plans to continue providing educational and engaging experiences for its visitors while staying true to its roots as one of Chicago’s most beloved attractions.
