Jacksonville Jaguars safety Darnell Savage, who joined the team as a free agent in March, is currently limited in organized team activities as he recovers from an injury sustained during his final season with the Green Bay Packers. Savage disclosed this information to Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union.

Savage missed a total of seven games during the 2023 season due to injuries. He was first placed on injured reserve in Week 7 with a calf injury, remaining there until Week 11. Then, just two games into his return, he suffered a torn rotator cuff in one of his shoulders, leading to a two-game absence from the field. Despite his injuries, Savage played through the pain from Week 17 through the NFC Divisional Round of the 2023-24 NFL playoffs, showcasing his dedication to his teammates. In total, Savage recorded 59 tackles, including one for loss, one interception (a pick-six), and three defended passes with the Packers in 2023.

Following five seasons with Green Bay, Savage signed a three-year contract worth $21.8 million with Jacksonville in March. Despite being limited in organized team activities due to injury recovery, Savage remains committed to being available for his new teammates by participating in voluntary offseason workouts. Ryan Nielsen, defensive coordinator for the Jaguars expressed optimism about Savage’s flexibility and adaptability on the field and praised him as a valuable asset to the team due to his versatility at nickel cornerback and safety positions.

Savage has shown resilience throughout his career and is expected to play an important role in Jacksonville’s defense as they continue their rebuilding process under new leadership. The Jaguars hope that by bringing on board such talented players like Savage they can turn things around quickly and become a force once again in football’s most competitive league.
