In recent news, Southern Team Automotive Group opened a brand new Hyundai sales and service center in Roanoke County. The state-of-the-art facility is located at 7300 Williamson Road and is currently stocked with over 200 vehicles. According to President David Dillon, the company plans to add even more vehicles to the center in the future.

The center employs a total of 45 people, with 18 new hires and 27 individuals from the dealership’s former address nearby. Dillon mentioned that the company will be preparing additional acreage behind the center for expanded inventory and other opportunities.

In other news, three local businesses were recognized by the Botetourt County School Board for their support under the Business Honor Roll of the Virginia School Boards Association. These businesses were honored for their significant contributions to enhancing communities and local schools.

Altec Industries of Daleville was one of the honorees and provided prize money for a high school-level “innovation challenge” allowing students to develop projects for community improvement. Gala Industries of Eagle Rock committed $30,000 towards the expansion of a welding facility at the Botetourt Technical Education Center in Fincastle. Additionally, Tyler Painter, an extension agent of Virginia Cooperative Extension, has been serving as a guest teacher in elementary classrooms covering various topics including English and language arts, biology, and job-acquisition skills.
