Ed Policy, the Green Bay Packers’ chief operating officer and general counsel, will succeed Mark Murphy as the team’s president and CEO. This was announced on Monday by the Packers. The transition will take place in July 2025, with Murphy staying on until his planned retirement at the age of 70 next year.

Policy has been with the Packers since 2012 and is the son of former NFL executive Carmen Policy. He began his career with the team as vice president and general counsel before being promoted to COO in 2018, where he oversaw legal affairs and business operations. With experience as a commissioner in the Arena Football League and an executive consultant for the NFL, Policy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.

The appointment of Policy was made by a unanimous vote of the Packers board of directors following a recommendation by a search committee. Board chair Susan Finco praised Policy’s leadership qualities and vision for the organization, ensuring a seamless transition in leadership.

Murphy, who has been in his role since 2008, highlighted Policy’s contribution to the team’s success and pledged to support him during the transition period. “Ed is an exceptional leader with a strong vision for our organization,” said Murphy. “I have no doubt that he will excel in this role.”
