Ruoning Yin and Atthaya Thitikul emerged victorious in the Dow Championship, leaving Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho just short of victory. However, both Ewing and Kupcho improved their chances of making the Solheim Cup team. Ewing is currently ranked third in U.S. points, while Kupcho has moved up to 12th. The top seven players after the AIG Women’s Open on Aug. 25 will automatically qualify for the American team, with two more spots going to the top two U.S. players in the Rolex Rankings who are not already in the top seven in points. Currently, those spots belong to Alison Lee at No. 22 and Angel Yin at No. 31. Kupcho is currently ranked at No. 50, but she is still a contender for a spot on the American team through her performance and ranking improvement.
