The German Dpa agency reports that an agreement has been reached regarding the new leaders of the European Union (EU). According to sources, Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kalas will be the EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, replacing Josep Borel in that position. Instead of Antonio Costa, former Prime Minister of Portugal, Ursula von der Leyen will remain as the President of the European Commission for a second term.

These appointments were made ahead of a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday and Friday. The roles and responsibilities of these leaders have been decided as part of negotiations to ensure a smooth transition and continued governance of the European Union.

The EU faces numerous challenges in the coming years, including economic instability, political turmoil, and environmental crises. It is crucial for the region to have strong and capable leaders in key positions to tackle these challenges head-on. With these new appointments, the EU can move forward with stability and continuity in its leadership.

The decision to appoint these individuals reflects a commitment to effective governance and cooperation within the European Union. As such, their roles are expected to be instrumental in ensuring that Europe remains united and continues to thrive in the face of ongoing challenges.
