New England Patriots announced on Monday afternoon that they had signed wide receiver David Wallis, who had participated in rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported the news earlier. Wallis previously played for Randolph Macon College and had an exceptional season in 2023, leading the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with 957 receiving yards and 18.1 yards per reception. He also scored 12 receiving touchdowns during the year, setting a new program record with 34 career receiving touchdowns.

The Patriots have been focusing on strengthening their receiving corps this offseason as it has been identified as an area of need. By signing Wallis, New England hopes to add depth and potentially develop him as a contributor at the wide receiver position. This move gives the Patriots another option to work with as they continue to build their roster for the upcoming season.

Wallis’ performance earned him a spot on the All-ODAC First-Team for the second consecutive year, as well as a spot on the All-Region First-Team by D3Football.com. The Patriots are excited about his addition to their team and look forward to seeing what he can bring to the field in the upcoming season.
