We are thrilled to announce that Chris Rowland, a seasoned journalist with a proven track record on the Business Desk, has been appointed as the editor of our transportation, energy, and health care team. Since joining The Washington Post in 2018 as a business of health care reporter, Chris has demonstrated an impressive ability to uncover compelling stories and deliver them with both accuracy and style.

One of Chris’s first major achievements was his front-page story exposing price-fixing by generic drug manufacturers just a month after he joined the paper. During the pandemic, he focused on the health care supply chain and the development of coronavirus vaccines. Most recently, Chris played a crucial role in a series of investigative stories about aging and assisted living that earned recognition from the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing.

Prior to his current position, Chris served as assistant managing editor and Washington bureau chief at the Boston Globe. In this role, he oversaw a team that produced exceptional coverage of Washington and American politics, including the Globe’s presidential campaign reporting. With his background in health care writing, political journalism, and investigative reporting, Chris brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

A graduate of the University of Arizona, Chris currently resides in Washington D.C. with his wife and daughter while his two older daughters live in Brooklyn and Vermont. Please join us in congratulating Chris on this exciting new chapter in his career as he embarks on this journey with us.
