The University of Central Arkansas recently announced the creation of the College of Science and Engineering, which was officially unveiled during a board of trustees meeting on May 21st. As part of this initiative, the Department of Physics and Astronomy has been renamed to the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Engineering.

These changes come after UCA received its most recent ABET accreditation for its engineering physics program. ABET is responsible for accrediting college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. According to Stephen Addison, dean of the College of Science and Engineering, this accreditation reaffirms UCA’s commitment to offering cutting-edge programs that meet the needs of today’s students while preparing them for future demands.

In addition to Physics, Astronomy and Engineering department, the College of Science and Engineering includes six other departments: Biology; Chemistry and Biochemistry; Computer Science and Engineering; Environmental Science; Geography; and Mathematics. UCA President Houston Davis praised faculty
