AC Milan has announced the arrival of new coach Paulo Fonseca, who will be taking over from Stefano Pioli. The news was made public by former Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic at a press conference. Fonseca, who has signed a three-year contract, will be tasked with guiding the team to success after a trophy-less season and finishing as runners-up in Serie A to city rivals Inter.

Fonseca began his coaching career in Portugal before moving on to Shakhtar Donetsk where he won seven trophies. He then had a stint with Roma before heading to Lille in France. At Lille, he led the team to fifth and fourth place finishes in Ligue 1 and led them into Europe in both seasons he was there.

Milan is looking for a new direction after struggling in the Champions League and losing out on qualification for the Europa League quarter-finals. Fonseca’s arrival at Milan comes shortly after Juventus named Thiago Motta as their new coach, replacing Massimiliano Allegri who was sacked last month. It seems that Italian football is experiencing some major managerial changes, and Fonseca’s arrival at Milan is sure to bring excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season.
