Michigan football sophomore wide receiver Semaj Morgan, known for his vibrant personality, quickly became a fan favorite after arriving in Ann Arbor from West Bloomfield, Michigan as an early enrollee during the Wolverines’ preparations for the 2022 College Football Playoff. Initially wearing No. 12, Morgan switched to No. 82 during the season, but with the departure of former No. 0 Darrius Clemons to Oregon State, Morgan saw an opportunity to claim that number for himself.

During his now-annual Father’s Day camp, Morgan announced that he would be taking on the No. 0 jersey. The number 0 has only been allowed in college football for a few years, with Giles Jackson donning it first in 2020 before transferring to Washington. Clemons was the last wide receiver to wear it, while on the defensive side, Mike Sainristil popularized it in maize and blue.

Morgan’s decision marks a new chapter for him as he looks to make his mark on the Michigan football program. Fans are eager to see what the talented wide receiver will bring to the field with his new jersey number and how he will contribute to team’s success next season.
