According to recent reports, Alessandro Buongiorno, a 25-year-old Italian international, could be the first signing for Napoli under new manager Antonio Conte. It is reported that Napoli and Torino have reached an agreement for the transfer of the central defender to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Torino’s president Urbano Cairo may be reluctant to let go of one of his key players, but with bonuses and potential future add-ons, the deal could be worth around €40M for Torino. Buongiorno has been a crucial player for Torino in recent seasons and it will be difficult for Cairo to part with him.
Napoli’s Sporting Director, Giovanni Manna, has offered Buongiorno a five-year contract with a significant increase in salary compared to what he currently earns at Torino. Conte has been in communication with Buongiorno, trying to persuade him that his future lies in southern Italy. Despite interest from several Premier League clubs, Buongiorno seems inclined to stay in Italy.
Cairo appears to have accepted that his star defender will be departing from Torino. The negotiations between Napoli and Torino for Buongiorno’s transfer seem to be progressing, with both clubs reaching an agreement on the details of the deal. If the transfer goes through, Buongiorno will be joining Napoli under the management of Conte, in what could be an exciting new chapter in the young defender’s career.
