Mali national team midfielder Ousmane Diakite has recently achieved success in the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations and has now been signed by West Brom. Diakite, who is 23 years old, made 34 appearances for Austrian Bundesliga team TSV Hartberg last season, scoring two goals but also receiving two red cards.

Diakite expressed his excitement about the move, stating that it has always been a dream of his to play in England. He is eager to start this new chapter in his career with West Brom, which marks the first signing for Baggies head coach Carlos Corberan this summer following the team’s loss to Southampton in the Championship play-offs.

Corberan praised Diakite’s talent and potential, highlighting his skills as a midfielder and his ability to help the team in transitioning from defense to attack. The signing of Diakite is seen as a positive step forward for West Brom as they prepare for the upcoming season. Following the signing, seven players, including winger Matt Phillips, were released from the team.
