The University Interscholastic League (UIL) recently met to discuss and make decisions on proposed rule changes in academics, athletics, music, and policy. One significant decision made was to implement split divisions in the postseason for volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, and baseball. This change will affect teams in the 2A-6A conferences for volleyball, softball, and baseball, 4A-6A for soccer, and 1A-6A for basketball.

The amendment for split divisions was passed by the Legislative Council pending approval by the Commissioner of Education. It will go into effect on August 1, 2024. This change aims to improve the organization and structure of competitions in UIL activities. All schools in their respective conferences will remain in their assigned districts according to the 2024-26 alignment.
