Roper St. Francis Healthcare System has announced Joseph DeLeon as its new CEO, starting in August. He will be taking over from Dr. Jeffrey DeLisi, who decided not to renew his contract after serving as CEO since December 2020. In the interim, Dr. Megan Baker, director of the health system’s cancer center, has been filling in as CEO since November.

DeLeon comes to Roper St. Francis Healthcare System from his position as president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, a Level 1 Trauma Center in the Dallas area. With nearly 30 years of experience in senior healthcare leadership, DeLeon is well-equipped to lead the healthcare system to new heights.

Edward McKelvey, chairman of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Board of Directors, expressed confidence in DeLeon’s abilities, citing his long history of success in healthcare management and his service as a former captain in the United States Air Force Medical Services Corps. The board is looking forward to seeing DeLeon further enhance the system’s reputation and expand access to quality healthcare, all while staying true to the organization’s mission of “healing all people with compassion, faith, and excellence.”
