The Big 12 conference has undergone a transformation, saying farewell to Oklahoma’s Brent Venables and Texas’ Steve Sarkisian after the 2023 season. In their place, five new coaches will be joining the league for the 2024 season. Out of the 12 incumbent programs in the league, 11 have retained the same coach as they did in 2023, with Houston being the lone exception as Willie Fritz takes over the Cougars after coming from Tulane.

The new coaches in the Big 12 include Utah’s Kyle Whittingham, who has found success out of four coaches transitioning from the Pac-12. Deion Sanders also joins the Big 12 as he leads charter member Colorado back into the league it helped create. Arizona and Arizona State are both under new leadership with coaches Brent Brennan and Kenny Dillingham, respectively, looking to establish themselves as winners in the Power Four realm.

In addition to these fresh faces, there are veteran coaches in the Big 12 who have a history of success and are highly respected in their profession. While they may not boast standout national title contenders, they do have several strong programs led by experienced tacticians.
