The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has recently appointed Paul Dale as its Chief Technology and Product Officer. In his new role, Dale will be a part of the BBFC’s Executive Leadership Team and will lead the AI Product and Development Team, focusing on the organisation’s AI projects. With international experience in delivering technology projects in over 40 countries, including Germany, the US, and Malaysia, Dale brings a wealth of knowledge to the BBFC.

Prior to joining the BBFC, Dale held board and leadership roles at various organizations such as BBC, ITV, Astro (Malaysia), and Dentsu International. He has also been a member of Microsoft’s Global AI, Data, and Analytics Advisory Board, showcasing his expertise in the tech industry. BBFC Chief Executive, David Austin, expressed his excitement about Dale joining the team and highlighted his track record of implementing technology solutions on a global scale.

Dale himself shared his enthusiasm for joining the BBFC and working on AI products in collaboration with content creators worldwide. He sees this as an exciting opportunity to venture into the evolving AI space and enhance the presence of trusted age ratings for international audiences. With a focus on combining Machine Learning and Generative AI with the expertise of the Compliance Team, Dale is committed to improving the viewing experiences of audiences globally.
