German football journalist Raphael Honigstein recently talked to BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club about Vincent Kompany potentially being appointed as the manager of Bayern Munich. While Honigstein mentioned that Kompany may face reduced expectations compared to previous managers due to Bayern finishing third in the Bundesliga last season, he also highlighted that this presents an opportunity for Kompany to prove himself and improve on the team’s performance.

Unlike past managers who had to follow successful seasons, Kompany has the chance to make a mark by turning around Bayern’s fortunes and regaining their position as the leading team in Germany. With the resources available to Bayern, improving on their previous season’s performance should be achievable, making it a realistic goal for Kompany to aim for.

Honigstein noted that Kompany’s task of improving the team is made easier by their recent poor performances, with the Champions League being the only exception. This could work in Kompany’s favor as he seeks to establish himself as a successful manager at one of the top clubs in Europe.
