In March 2024, the Miami Dolphins signed former New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Maye to a contract. Maye had previously played for the Saints for two seasons before being released in November 2023 as part of a cost-saving strategy. During his time with the Saints, he accumulated 97 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and two interceptions.
Maye was a second-round pick by the New York Jets in 2017 and had shown consistency and skill in his position throughout his NFL career. He has a total of eight career interceptions, five forced fumbles, and 4 1/2 sacks. One of his most memorable moments came in 2018 when he made an interception return of 104 yards to almost score a touchdown. However, Maye faced challenges in the 2023 season when he was suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy due to a DUI arrest in Florida the previous year.
In addition to Maye, the Dolphins also signed former Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer to a one-year contract in March as part of their offseason moves. The team is looking to strengthen their defensive lineup with these valuable additions.
