Jill Wilson, the board chair at Premier Health and CEO of Otterbein SeniorLife, has been appointed as Premier Health’s representative on Wright State’s Board of Trustees under a new 30-year affiliation agreement between the two organizations. The appointment was made unanimously by the Wright State University Board of Trustees, where Wilson will serve as a non-voting, national trustee.

In addition to her role on the board, Wilson will represent Premier Health on Wright State’s Board of Trustees as part of the new affiliation agreement. She expressed excitement about continuing to work with Wright State and its trustees, stating that the two organizations have the potential to accomplish great things together.

The affiliation agreement, which was announced in December, will officially recognize Miami Valley Hospital as an academic medical center. It establishes a primary academic affiliation between Wright State University and Premier Health, encompassing all of Wright State’s colleges and academic programs as well as all of Premier Health’s care sites.

Premier Health will make payments of $10 million in the first year and $15 million in the second year of the agreement. This funding will be used to increase the class size at Wright State’s Boonshoft School of Medicine and enhance the university’s nursing program. Wright State has been using Premier Health as the primary training site for its medical students since the 1970s.

The enhanced affiliation agreement between Wright State and Premier Health aims to help both organizations qualify for additional research grants and introduce new disciplines to their respective entities. Premier Health anticipates opportunities for growth and access to federal funding to establish physician residency programs at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy and Atrium Medical Center in Middletown as part of this updated affiliation.
