Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Neighborhood Health is expanding its services by adding a retail pharmacy to its clinic on Calhoun Street. The goal is to provide patients with an easy and seamless way to get the prescriptions they need. The pharmacy will accept all major pharmacy insurance payors and will offer affordable medication through the Neighborhood Health Pharmacy Medication Assistance Program for those who meet specific financial requirements.

Neighborhood Health’s senior director of pharmacy, Andrea Mekonnen, explained that in the past, patients have had difficulty picking up their medications at other pharmacies. With the addition of the retail pharmacy, there will be better communication and collaboration between the pharmacy and medical providers to ensure that patients receive the right medication at the right time.

The grand opening ceremony for the pharmacy is scheduled for Friday, June 28 at 9:30 a.m. Neighborhood Health President and CEO Angie Zaegel stated that Mayor Henry was dedicated to providing healthcare access to the underserved and was enthusiastic about the new pharmacy location. The clinic had originally planned to open the pharmacy in April, but the event was postponed due to the passing of former Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. The clinic plans to pay tribute to Henry during the grand opening ceremony.

The retail pharmacy is currently open and operates on weekdays from 9 am to 7 pm and on Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm. The pharmacy is closed on weekends but is available to all, not just Neighborhood Health patients. This expansion will provide convenient accessibility for patients seeking prescription medication in Fort Wayne, Indiana area making it easier for them to manage their health conditions effectively while reducing unnecessary trips back & forth from other locations .
