Nebraska freshman quarterback Daniel Kaelin recently discussed his transition to college football on ‘The Let It Fly Show’. Host Mike’l Severe asked Kaelin about the differences between high school and college football, prompting him to reflect on his ‘welcome to college football’ moment.

As one of the top prospects in Nebraska for 2024, Kaelin had an impressive high school career as an Elite 11 quarterback, throwing for over 2,000 yards, 17 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Now he finds himself in a competitive quarterback room for the upcoming season, competing against freshman Dylan Raiola and last year’s starter Heinrich Haarberg.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Matt Brown, Kaelin recounted a moment from his second practice where he made a mistake on a play during a third down drill. Despite the error, Kaelin recognized he had a check down option and decided to throw the ball away under pressure. To his surprise, teammate Tommi Hill intercepted the ball with incredible speed, highlighting the difference in speed between high school and college football.
