Nebraska Cornhuskers have secured their first recruit from Texas for the 2025 class. Malcolm Simpson, a strong side defensive end from Hitchcock, Texas, committed to the Big 10 program after his official visit this past weekend.

Simpson had offers from several prestigious schools, including Texas A&M, SMU, USC, and Houston. However, he ultimately chose the Cornhuskers. The recruitment of Simpson was quick as Nebraska only offered him a month ago on May 20. Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton identified him as a top target for the Huskers and after his official visit, Simpson made his decision to join the class.

In his past two seasons, Simpson has impressive stats with 62 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass deflection. Simpson is now the 11th commit in Nebraska’s 2025 class and joins other highly-rated prospects like quarterback TJ Lateef and running back Jamarion Parker. The Cornhuskers’ recruiting class is shaping up to be strong with Simpson’s addition.
