Recently, the Sixers held a workout for former Daryl Morey draft pick Sam Dekker. Since being selected by Morey when he was with the Rockets, Dekker has played for various teams and spent time overseas. He made a brief appearance for the Raptors during the 2021-22 season under current Sixers head coach Nick Nurse.

Dekker has found success in the British Basketball League in recent years, where Nurse also has ties. In fact, Dekker was named the league’s MVP for the 2022-23 season and earned the playoff final MVP this year with an impressive performance. Despite his success overseas, Dekker is looking to make a return to the NBA.

With uncertainty surrounding the Sixers’ roster, there is a focus on building around All-Stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. As NBA teams are now able to negotiate with free agents, the Sixers are exploring their options to strengthen the team. Free agency officially begins on July 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET.
