Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Secretary General, stated that Russia is not capable of making significant breakthroughs on the battlefield in Ukraine. Despite multiple attempts to launch offensives since the spring, Russia has only achieved limited gains. Stoltenberg believes that Russia lacks the capabilities and strength to achieve significant victories in Ukraine.

The United States will continue to be a strong ally within NATO regardless of the outcome of the elections, Stoltenberg emphasized. He noted that Russian forces may continue pushing on different fronts and increasing air attacks, but the Ukrainians have been able to hold on and inflict heavy losses on the Russian invaders.

Since May 10, Moscow has launched a new major offensive in northeastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces initially had to give ground but were able to block the Russian advance in Vovchansk, a town located close to the Russian border, despite losing control of several villages. Despite these setbacks, Stoltenberg remains confident in the resilience of the Ukrainian forces against Russian aggression.
