On May 14, 16 of the 51 tourists who were suspected of food poisoning during a trip to Phan Thiet were discharged from the hospital. The Binh Thuan Department of Health confirmed this information in a report sent to the British Food Safety Bureau – Ministry of Health. Dr. Le Huynh Phuc, director of Binh Thuan General Hospital, stated that the remaining patients were still being treated at the hospital.

The latest update from the Department of Health reveals that there were a total of 51 suspected cases of food poisoning in Phan Thiet. This occurred after a group of 750 people from a company in Binh Duong visited the city and stayed at a resort by the sea. Following a dinner party at a local restaurant, many people reported stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea and had to be hospitalized.

The Binh Thuan Department of Health sent an inspection team to investigate the situation at the restaurant where the group had dinner. Although the restaurant had proper certifications and documentation related to food safety, samples of the food were not available for testing as they had tested it themselves. The Department of Health is seeking guidance from the Food Safety Department on this matter.

Furthermore, it is also discovered that the group had eaten at other restaurants in the area as well, and investigation is still ongoing to determine all suspected cases related to this delegation. The cause behind this outbreak is yet unknown, but efforts are being made to prevent similar incidents from happening in future trips.
