The Muscogee Creek Nation has teamed up with a mental health hotline to provide assistance to tribal members in need. The hotline, known as 988, offers a phone number that individuals can call or text if they are struggling with mental health issues. Operators on the hotline will connect callers to the necessary resources they require.

The partnership between the Muscogee Creek Nation and the hotline is significant, as it allows tribal members who call for help to be transferred to the 988 program within the tribal health department. This means that tribal members can access outpatient therapy at one of the tribe’s six clinics on the reservation. Tyler Stone, project director for Native Connections, believes this collaboration will encourage tribal members to seek help more readily.

In addition to working with 988, the Muscogee Creek Nation also offers a mental health crisis text line for its members. By texting “Creek” to 741741, individuals can receive assistance for any type of crisis, not limited to suicide. This additional support service is designed to provide immediate help and support to tribal members in need.

Overall, the partnership between the Muscogee Creek Nation and the mental health hotline and crisis text line demonstrates the tribe’s commitment to providing mental health support to its members in times of need. Through these resources, tribal members have access to help and assistance when facing mental health challenges.
