Fenerbahce is poised to win its first Turkish Super Lig title in a decade with the help of former manager Jose Mourinho, who has agreed to a two-year deal with the club. The 61-year-old manager will be joined by his former assistant Ricardo Formosinho, who he last worked with at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho will make his debut on TNT Sport as a pundit for the Champions League final at Wembley before officially taking on his new role at Fenerbahce. The club, which has not won a Super Lig title since 2014, is putting pressure on Mourinho to deliver success.

Formosinho, a former Portuguese player and manager, has a long coaching career spanning over 34 years. He has worked in various countries around the world, including Morocco, Sudan, Bolivia, and Egypt. Formosinho first collaborated with Mourinho two decades ago when they won the Champions League with Porto, and they will now reunite at Fenerbahce.

Mourinho is expected to bring in familiar faces to his coaching staff, including fitness coaches Carlos Lalin and Stefano Rapetti, as well as analyst Giovanni Cerra, who all worked with him at Roma. The club will announce the full staff roster when they officially announce Mourinho’s appointment in the next 48 hours.

Fenerbahce is aiming to secure a Super Lig title in the upcoming 2024-2025 season after finishing second in the league for the past three seasons. The club faces pressure from rival team Galatasaray and must also contend with Champions League qualifiers beginning on July 23.

Both incumbent president Ali Koç and challenger Aziz Yildirim are fully supportive of Mourinho and have shown their commitment to the new manager ahead of the club’s presidential election. Mourinho arrives at Fenerbahce with high expectations and a strong desire to bring success back to the club after a decade of waiting.

The Turkish giants are hoping that Mourinho can lead them back to glory after missing out on winning their first Super Lig title since 2014.
