This technology measures various joint angles, timing, stresses on the shoulder and elbow, as well as aspects like velocity, strength, and balance. By analyzing these data points, trainers can identify inefficiencies that may lead to injury risk and work with athletes to improve their techniques.

Quin Brigham, a baseball player who has been involved in the sport since a very young age, experienced pain while playing. He sought help from athletic trainer Dave Heidloff at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Sports Performance Center, who utilized 3-D motion capture technology to analyze Quin’s throwing mechanics. This technology allowed for a detailed breakdown of the movements and stresses on Quin’s body during athletic activities.

Quin was able to make adjustments to his throwing technique based on the data provided by the technology, leading to a decrease in pain and an improvement in his performance.
