Mondelez International, a global leader in the cookie and chocolate industry, has announced a collaboration with Lotus Bakeries, a well-known East Flemish cookie baker. Through this partnership, Mondelez will produce and distribute Lotus caramelized biscuits in India on behalf of Lotus Bakeries. Additionally, the two companies will work together to develop new chocolate products that incorporate these biscuits. The first products combining Milka biscuits and Cadbury chocolate with Lotus caramelized biscuits are expected to launch in early 2025 and have potential for global expansion.

Lotus Bakeries is renowned for its Biscoff biscuit biscuit, which is the fifth most popular cookie in the world. This collaboration with Mondelez provides an opportunity for Lotus to leverage Mondelez’s local expertise and market knowledge in India, which is a growing market for their products. Jan Boone, CEO of Lotus Bakeries expressed excitement about this partnership stating that it allows them to expand their reach into new markets while benefiting from Mondelez’s experience and resources.

Mondelez has significant turnover compared to Lotus Bakeries with approximately 36 billion dollars in 2023 compared to Lotus’s 1.06 billion euros in the same year. Despite their differences in size, this collaboration signifies a strategic partnership between two major players in the cookie and chocolate industry. With this partnership, both companies can benefit from each other’s strengths and resources to create new opportunities for growth and success.
