For the 13th consecutive year, MIT has been named the world’s top university by the QS World University Rankings, a prestigious distinction that has cemented its position as a leading global institution. The full 2025 edition of the rankings, which are published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and specialize in education and study abroad, is available at TopUniversities.com.
MIT was also ranked as the top university in 11 subject areas this year by QS. These include Chemical Engineering; Civil and Structural Engineering; Computer Science and Information Systems; Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Linguistics; Materials Science; Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Manufacturing Engineering; Mathematics; Physics and Astronomy; and Statistics and Operational Research.
In addition to these accolades, MIT received second place rankings in five subject areas: Accounting and Finance; Architecture/Built Environment; Biological Sciences; Chemistry
