John Souttar, Scott McTominay, and Stuart Armstrong will not be playing in Scotland’s friendly with Gibraltar on Monday. According to head coach Steve Clarke, McTominay was substituted in the FA Cup final due to an issue, while Armstrong has been out since being stretchered off last month and Souttar missed the final three games of the season for Rangers.

Clarke is optimistic that the trio will be able to play in Friday’s friendly with Finland at Hampden. The news of striker Lyndon Dykes missing Euro 2024 due to an ankle injury on the training pitch has also been revealed.

Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson, who suffered hamstring injuries earlier in the season, have not made the 28-man provisional squad. The squad includes players who have struggled for game time recently, and Clarke plans to give them minutes on the pitch in Monday’s game.

He mentioned that it would be a chance to give playing time to some players who may not have received many minutes at the end of the club season. Clarke emphasized the importance of managing minutes for players returning from long-term injuries and striking a balance between performance and result in the upcoming friendly.
