Milwaukee Brewers recently took action in support of a local business after a street vendor was attacked earlier this month. The team distributed free paletas, or popsicles, to kids on the south side of Milwaukee with assistance from Bernie Brewer. This gesture came in response to a video posted on social media showing a street vendor being harassed during a Cinco De Mayo celebration, sparking outrage online.

Rene Adan, the Co-Owner of Paleteria Yayo, expressed his feelings of shame and anger in response to the incident involving his employee. He mentioned that harassment towards street vendors is unfortunately not uncommon and such incidents occur frequently. The now-viral video drew attention from various individuals and organizations, including the Milwaukee Brewers.

Izzy Lugo, the Director of Experiential Marketing for the Brewers, explained that they learned of the attack through social media and felt compelled to show their support for the street vendor. The team hopes that events like this will help bring the community together and raise awareness about the value of all members of the community.

Adan expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from people in response to the incident. He thanked everyone for their kind words and actions. For street vendors in need of help or support, there is a hotline available at 414-539-1036. The hope is that by raising awareness and fostering a sense of community, incidents like this can be prevented in the future.
