Mike Brown and the Kings have put contract extension talks on hold, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The discussions have hit a roadblock, with a significant difference in compensation between Brown and the team. According to Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Jake Fischer, Brown is seeking a significant salary increase, reportedly pursuing an eight-figure yearly salary.

In his two seasons with the Kings, Brown has led the team to a 94-70 record and a playoff appearance, the first for the franchise since 2006. However, the team took a step back this past season, finishing in the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference and losing in the play-in game for the No. 8 seed. The Kings have a lot to address this off-season in order to return to Western Conference playoff contention, with Brown’s future with the team being a major point of concern. Although talks have been tabled for now, negotiations may resume in the future as both parties work towards reaching a resolution.
