Microsoft recently launched a new range of Copilot Plus PCs, featuring a dedicated Copilot key on the keyboard. However, users were disappointed to find that the button is currently only used to launch a Progressive Web App version of Copilot. This new web app no longer integrates into the Windows operating system like the previous Copilot experience did, removing the ability to control Windows 11 settings or keep it docked with a sidebar. Essentially, it functions as just a web app, with even the keyboard shortcut for Copilot being removed from these new PCs.

In response to the backlash, Microsoft stated in a blog post from the Windows Insider team that they are evolving the Copilot experience as an app that will be pinned to the taskbar. This allows users to have a more traditional app experience, including the ability to resize, move, and dock the window. Microsoft believes that these changes will allow them to develop and optimize the Copilot experience more efficiently. The new Copilot key will replace the menu key on the Copilot Plus PC keyboards, and the Copilot app has been pinned to the taskbar for easy access without needing to use the dedicated key.
