Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced that former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and former OpenAI president Greg Brockman will be joining the company. Nadella expressed excitement about the news and is committed to providing both Altman and Brockman with the resources they need for success. Despite the move to Microsoft, the company remains committed to its partnership with OpenAI.

After Altman was ousted from OpenAI, there was some confusion when the company’s board appeared to consider reversing the decision before settling on former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as the interim CEO. This major change in leadership came after the company’s board declared they had lost confidence in Altman’s leadership abilities. Meanwhile, former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati has openly supported Altman, and is now being replaced by Shear.

Microsoft did not provide immediate comment or details about the new team joining the company. In a post on X, Brockman stated that he, Altman, and others planned to “build something new” and “incredible” at Microsoft. It is unclear what specific projects or initiatives this team will be working on, but it is clear that they are excited about their new opportunities at Microsoft.
