The recruiting season for the 2025 class is just beginning, and the Michigan Wolverines are gearing up to continue their success in recruiting top-tier prospects. While they have not had much luck in landing elite prospects straight out of high school, they have a proven track record of developing mid-four-star and three-star recruits into standout players.

One recruit that Michigan is targeting is four-star safety Kainoa Winston from Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga. Winston recently visited Ann Arbor for an official visit and has received predictions that he may choose to play for the Wolverines, despite initially being seen as a Penn State lean.

Known for his speed and agility, Winston is versatile enough to play multiple positions on defense and could also make an impact on special teams. He is considered the No. 43 player in the country by 247Sports and has received interest from several other schools, including Penn State, North Carolina, and Oregon.

Listed at under 6 feet, Winston is known for his muscle and ability to fly around the field, making plays on both run defense and in coverage. He has the potential to be a defensive playmaker at the collegiate level and could contribute in various roles for a Power Five program. With his impressive track record and offers from prestigious programs, Winston is sure to be a key player in the recruiting process for the Wolverines.

In order to attract top-rated prospects like Winston, Michigan will need to continue their successful approach of developing mid-four-star and three-star recruits into standout players. By focusing on building relationships with talented athletes early on in their careers, Michigan can continue to maintain its position as one of the top football programs in the country.
