July has not been a promising month for Michigan football recruiting. The Wolverines have already missed out on top targets, including edge rusher Maxwell Roy who committed to rival Ohio State. However, there is hope on the horizon for Michigan.

One prospect that the Wolverines are in strong contention with is three-star wide receiver Phillip Wright III from Destrehan, Louisiana. Wright could potentially become the second wide receiver from Louisiana to commit to Michigan and the third overall pledge from the state. His decision is set to be announced on July 13, with Michigan, Georgia, and LSU as his final three schools.

Wright is a highly ranked prospect by various recruiting services, showcasing his talent on the football field and the track. Known for his speed, he ran a lightning-fast 10.62 100-meter dash in 2023. Michigan already has a Louisiana native committed at wide receiver, Jacob Washington, and is also in good standing with another top prospect, Andrew Marsh from Texas.

Despite some setbacks in July, Michigan football is still in the running for top recruits and fans are eagerly awaiting Wright’s decision.
