Michigan football is gearing up for a month of big weekend visits with officials for 2025 recruits, including five-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu. Utu, along with his high school teammate, five-star wide receiver Derek Meadows, is officially visiting. Both ESPN and Rivals have given Utu the ultra-elite status by ranking him as the No. 11 and No. 8 player in the country, respectively.

On the day of his official visit, Utu announced that Michigan is in his top six choices, along with Washington, Nebraska, Alabama, Oregon, and Tennessee. It seems that Michigan and Washington are the top contenders for Utu’s services, but there is still a long way to go in the recruiting process. Utu has already visited Seattle and has an upcoming trip to Tuscaloosa to see Alabama next weekend.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan currently has a 31.2% chance of securing Utu’s commitment. As of now, Utu is included in the 2025 class on our latest best guess list. The competition for his commitment remains open, but Michigan seems to be a strong contender for his eventual school of choice. This story was originally featured on Wolverines Wire.
