Michael Carrick has renewed his contract with Middlesbrough, signing a new three-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2027. The former Manchester United and England midfielder led Boro to eighth place in the Championship last season and guided them to the Carabao Cup semi-finals despite facing numerous injury challenges.

Since taking over as head coach in 2022, Carrick has become the longest-serving manager at Middlesbrough, outlasting five others who have come and gone since Aitor Karanka’s departure in 2017. Despite having one year remaining on his previous contract, talks of an extension were postponed during the recent season. However, the club was eager to secure Carrick’s services, recognizing him as one of the brightest emerging talents in coaching.

Carrick expressed his calmness and gratitude for the club’s trust and belief in him. He emphasized that the contract extension does not change his approach or goals but rather reinforces the commitment to achieving success with Middlesbrough. Carrick’s focus remains on building upon the progress made in his first two seasons and continuing to work towards the club’s objectives.
