Copenhagen police have confirmed that Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was assaulted by a man on the street in Copenhagen. The incident took place at Kultorvet, a square in the historic center of the city. The police have made an arrest in connection with the case and are currently investigating further.

Mette Frederiksen, who has been serving as Prime Minister since 2019, had recently been campaigning alongside the EU party leader of the Social Democrats, Christel Schaldemose, in preparation for the upcoming EU parliamentary elections this Sunday. Other Danish politicians have expressed their horror at the incident and labeled it an attack on democracy.

In a statement released by Copenhagen police, they stated that they have arrested a man in connection with the assault on Mette Frederiksen. However, his motive remains unknown at this time.

Danish Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke took to social media to express shock over the attack on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. He stated that everyone close to her is equally shocked and called for an end to such incidents. Other Danish politicians also voiced their horror at the incident and condemned it as an attack on democracy.
