Metsä Board, a company within the Metsä Group, has announced an investment of approximately EUR 60 million in the renovation of the folding carton machine located in Simpele. This is part of a larger investment program aimed at modernizing the cardboard factory and enhancing production capabilities and sustainability.

The decision to invest in the folding carton machine’s renovation is significant as it will improve the quality of the board, increase production efficiency and enable the replacement of fossil fuels in the production process. Following the renovation, the factory’s production capacity will increase by about 10,000 tons, bringing Simpele’s annual production capacity to approximately 310,000 tons.

The investment will commence immediately and be completed in the second half of 2025. This move represents a commitment from Metsä Board to innovation and sustainability, reflecting their dedication to improving operations and reducing environmental impact.
