The New York Mets have announced that J.D. Martinez has been scratched from Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals due to a sore left ankle. Originally slated to bat third, Martinez will be replaced as the designated hitter by catcher Luis Torrens. Torrens will now bat sixth in the lineup behind Francisco Alvarez, with Mark Vientos moving up to the three-hole.
