New Era, a Buffalo-based company that specializes in baseball hats, T-shirts, and other apparel, has acquired a well-known institution in Boston sports apparel. The brand ’47, originally known as Twins Enterprise, was founded by the D’Angelo family in 1994 and became closely associated with the fan experience at Fenway Park. The acquisition marks the end of an era for the D’Angelo family who managed the brand for many years.

Despite being acquired by New Era, ’47 will maintain its headquarters in Westwood, as confirmed by New Era last week. Founded by twins Henry and Arthur D’Angelo, the company developed apparel that became popular among Red Sox fans and they were pioneers in producing team pennants, as recognized by Major League Baseball. Their store located across Jersey Street from the ballpark was a popular destination for fans and their unique products were highly sought after.

The acquisition of ’47 by New Era is significant as it brings together two major players in the sports apparel industry. The move is expected to have a positive impact on both companies and their customers. The brand ’47 will continue to be recognized for its high-quality products and commitment to customer satisfaction while New Era will expand its product offerings to include more sports teams apparel.
