Merck, a major player in German science and technology, has announced a collaboration with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to accelerate progress in life sciences. This partnership aims to enhance the research and development ecosystem in South Korea for industrial purposes.

As part of the collaboration, Merck will provide products from its chemistry and biology portfolios to researchers at KAIST. This will allow for greater opportunities for development and innovation within the lab. Additionally, Merck and KAIST will work together to establish an experience lab in Korea, further facilitating research and discovery in the field of life sciences.

Matthias Heinzel, an executive at Merck, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in advancing biotechnology for both local and global industries. By supporting research and cultivating the next generation of scientists, Merck and KAIST hope to discover new medicines to address the health needs of a global population.

This partnership comes on the heels of Merck’s announcement of a €300 million investment in Korea to construct a new bioprocessing production facility in Daejeon. This facility will further solidify Merck’s commitment to advancing life sciences in Korea and beyond.
