On Saturday, downtown Atlanta faced a major crisis when water main breaks caused widespread outages and low pressure in the area. The issue began when water gushed into the street at the intersection of three large water mains, impacting numerous hospitals, jails, shelters, and other establishments. Many businesses were forced to close their doors as a result, including the Georgia Aquarium.

In response to the crisis, the city’s Department of Watershed Management issued a boil water advisory for a significant portion of metro Atlanta. They urged the public to limit water usage in order to help rebuild water pressure in the system. Despite this advisory, updates on progress were difficult to come by as the department’s website was down and there were no recent social media updates as of Saturday morning.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion was one of many affected by the water issues. She had to reschedule her concert from Friday to Sunday due to the outages, but her Saturday performance at the State Farm Arena was still set to go on. She expressed disappointment at the situation but emphasized the importance of following protocol and expressed concern for those affected by the water problems.

As crews continued to work on restoring service throughout Saturday, it became clear that this was not just an isolated incident. The entire City Government was focused on addressing this issue head-on and finding long-term solutions that would prevent similar crises from happening in the future.
